ORB OF THE
FOREIGNER
I.
the city resurfaces from the shifting sand
lights immediately come on
careful to angle away
from its gutters and shadows
II.
a diaphragm folds out to a box
manifestations of a hole
self-constructed blind spot
peer through the opening
fall from the top
the basilisk enlarges when the bodies drop
III.
mistaken for mountains
obelisks, outside of time
decomposing parallel memory
the necropolis continues
feeding, regulating itself
processed in outer darkness
the ubiquitous sphere
falsified and funnelled
stabbing through the damp wallpaper of our lives
IV.
surrounded then buried
the well dug with riteless bones
connected only to water
by iterations under the sea
this is how the chimera grows floors
